Flâner is a French word and concept that I love, and that we don’t have nearly enough of in our fast-paced lives (assuming, of course, that you, dear reader, are not French).
To flâner is to stroll, hang around, saunter. Imagine yourself leisurely enjoying your coffee at a Parisian cafe, watching the locals walk by, then taking a stroll down the boulevard, for a bit of window shopping.
I’ve been going through several years’ worth of old posts here and looking at memes and weekly themes I used to write about. One was a weekend roundup post.
I’m resurrecting that at Friday Flâner. I could have named it “lovely links” or “weekend wanderings”, but a mom can use a little sophistication in her life, non?
Another is Read-Aloud Roundup. You can see examples here. Each week (more or less), I’ll be sharing books I’ve read aloud with the kids.
Friday Flâner will also mention links I’ve enjoyed from around the internet from the previous week, as well as old blog posts you may not have read before from this here blog.
A little wandering around the web, if you will.
- Gretchen Rubin just launched a new app called Better and released it for free to her SuperFans (of which I am one!). It focuses on her Four Tendencies framework. Very fun, and quite useful in understanding self and others. If you join, look for me there as… wait for it… Carrie Willard.
- Speaking of personality types, I created a Pinterest board for mine, ISTJ. (I struggle with this a little, because there are many things about this type that don’t describe me, probably because I score inbetween on some of the measures.)
- How’s this for a beautiful, delicious, decadent AND healthy breakfast or treat? Yogurt Power Bowl (sugar free – see more about how I eat without sugar here.)
- I decided to join BeMoreWithLess writer Courtney for Project 333 (building a capsule wardrobe), starting this October. Stay tuned for more about that…
Oldies but goodies from this blog:
How to unspoil your child, fast
A review of Five In a Row literature-based unit study curriculum. I’ve decided to return to this with my little ones. I had forgotten how much we loved it until I re-read this post!
I Have My Reasons (because sometimes, you gotta pull the mom card)
Enjoy your weekend! And be sure to flâner a little bit…
