One:
I redeemed a $10 reward from ThredUp (that I’d earned through referrals) to get two summer shirts. ThredUp is a huge online consignment shop. I’ve been consistently pleased with my purchases from them. Their inventory is massive, and the search filters make it easy and fast to find what I need. One of the tops I got has become my favorite. I wish I had it in several colors!
You can get 40% off and free shipping using this link. One awesome feature ThredUp offers is their “Clean Out Kit” – at no charge, they’ll send you a mailer you can fill with clothing, shoes and accessories to ship back. They do the rest – taking pics and listing your stuff for sale so you earn credit! So simple and much easier than selling your used clothing elsewhere.
Two:
I got a free full-size evening moisturizer from OneKind, courtesy of Morning Brew, a daily news email. I rarely hear about free deals like this, so I was pretty stoked!
Three:
Speaking of skin care, I also was gifted a couple of items from Grace & Stella for review. (Note: I’m not being paid to mention these products, but I am using Amazon affiliate links below.)
The first item I tried was the Brightening & Moisturizing Eye Cream. I like the light texture. It sinks in quickly and doesn’t cause my makeup to slide around, and it doesn’t pill up (I hate that about some eye creams). It won’t replace my regular eye cream, but I keep it in my travel bag so I don’t have to pack and unpack it when I’m not home.
I loved the 24K Gold Face Masks. My skin has become dryer lately, probably related to perimenopause. Sometimes it feels like I can’t get enough moisturizer. My face felt incredibly soft and plump for a whole day after I used this mask, like my skin drank a big glass of water.
Looks a little scary, but felt amazing.

Four:
I utilized my employer’s EAP (employee assistance program) benefit to find a therapist for free. I’d previously been paying out of pocket to see my therapist (worth every penny!), but decided to take advantage of this benefit in order to save some cash.
I was able to book ten sessions at no cost, and once those are used up, the Dr. is in my health insurance network, so I’ll be able to keep seeing her with just a co-pay. This is going to free up a significant amount of money in my budget.
Five:
I made my own “instant” oatmeal. I don’t follow a recipe. I like to use up the last odd bits of dried fruit and nuts I have on hand. (Oatmeal is hard to mess up if you’re adding toppings.) I also add flax seed (that perimenopause thing again!) for extra fiber and nutrients.
I have oatmeal for breakfast nearly every day. I love it, it’s cheap and healthy, and so easy to make. I don’t even use the stove or microwave! I put 1/3 cup of oatmeal into a small Thermos-type container, then top with boiling water. I put the lid on and allow it to sit until I’m ready to eat it. It’s perfect every time.
What frugal things have you been up to lately? I’d love to hear in the comments!
