Posting my frugal accomplishments here helps me stay accountable. (And I like reading these types of posts because I get great ideas!)
Recent frugal accomplishments:
I bought a $10 Starbucks gift card for $5. I know that Starbucks isn’t a frugal habit, but as I mentioned here, I am basically renting an office for under $2 a day. Without this expense, there would be no blog. Meaning, this is a business expense, even if the IRS won’t agree.
I bought several clothing items for my little girls at .60 each (and this is why I love BargainHunt), among other amazing deals.
Courtesy of a fellow member of a local Buy Nothing group, I got 3 new bags of Seventh Generation disposable diapers. Yes to hyper-local sharing economies!
It was a beautiful day to bike to the grocery store. Here’s how that’s done.
Note the bike trailer. You can fit a lot of groceries in there.
We also hit up the dumpster behind the shopping center because we were looking for loot for boxes. I can’t get over the phrase “for profit archaeologist”. I am totally stealing that.
My 15-year-old son, who is always up for anything slightly dangerous and culturally rebellious, is my dumpster diving buddy. Look for upcoming posts with our acquisitions.
I got a free book, courtesy of our Chase Rewards credit card (that we pay off every month before incurring interest) points. The title is Early Retirement Extreme, and I plan on hitting my husband over the head with it repeatedly until the message kicks in sharing it with my husband.
*That’s an affiliate link, and you can get $150 from Chase if you open an account. Please don’t consider doing it unless you’re going to pay off the balance in full each month and stay in your budget. This is the only way to use a credit card wisely.
Last month we got a free printer from our Chase reward points. Also look for an upcoming post called “Why I now disagree with Dave Ramsey about credit cards“. Because as it turns out, your credit score does matter when you go to buy a house. Who woulda thunk?
What frugal stuff were you up to last week?
