Is it just me, or is this summer flying by? It feels like I blink, and another week has passed. I’ve learned that one way to make time slow down is by having new experiences. Travel is one way to do this. I also love exposing my kids to the arts. Last year, two of my girls took drama classes and loved it.
So I was excited when the Alliance Theater gifted me tickets to the production of The Incredible Book-Eating Boy.
Adapted from the award-winning book, it’s a story of Henry, a young boy who struggles with reading and subsequently thinks he’s not as smart as his classmates. Accidentally, he finds he can absorb information by eating books. Henry gets smarter and smarter and all is well… until things start to get out of hand!
We’d enjoyed reading the book when we discovered it in the library one day, and the musical was delightful as well. Josiah, 8, gave it “8.5 stars out of 10”.
One of my favorite things about the musical was how Henry came to accept his unique style of learning. I’ve had a few kids who struggled to read, and I think they could relate to this story.
