A few things I enjoyed from around the web this week…
Modern Mrs. Darcy is doing a webinar on Bullet Journaling for Book Lovers. It’s included in her monthly book club membership, but the recording will be available a la carte afterwards for non-members.
If you’re struggling with goals and habits, watch this TED talk by Tiny Habits advocate BJ Fogg. Tiny habits (read one page of a novel, floss one tooth) are brilliant. They don’t trigger the fear response that big goals do, tricking the brain into accepting them without resistance, and they make space in your life for the new habit to become established, while you hardly notice.
The Nester wrote about how to give your home a fresh start without “joy-spark testing” everything. Haha! She’s actually a fan of Marie Kondo’s books (as am I), but shares tips on “quieting” and refreshing room quickly.
LOVED this post by Kelly Exeter: my one word for 2017 is WHY. I’ve never done the “one word” thing, probably because I’ve never been able to nail down just one word for all areas of my life. But I could totally do why! It helps that in Gretchen Rubin’s 4 tendencies parlance, I’m a Questioner. Also, I recently read Simon Sinek’s book (after listening to this excellent TED talk), Start With Why
Asking WHY is a great way to motivate yourself to do unpleasant tasks, by linking them to a larger objective, goal or value system.
