This month, I’m participating in The Nester’s 31 Days project. If you’re not familiar with it, the 31 Days is a challenge to write every day on one topic for the month of October.
31 Days of Read-Aloud
It struck me: why not make my topic something that will hold me accountable to the goal of reading aloud daily with my kids?
Recently I posted about how, now that we’re several weeks into the new school year, I feel confident that the day’s work will get done. But what I now want to do is relax a little, to inject some of those things that are important-but-not-urgent.
One of those important things is reading aloud to my children.
It’s so important to me, but it’s one of those things that’s so easy to push aside when I’m pressed for time.
No more.
This writing challenge will hold me to it!
So for the month of October, every day when you stop by here (and I do hope you stop by every day!), you’ll see something related to read-aloud. It may be a quote from Jim Trelease’s awesome book, The Read-Aloud Handbook, or it may be a quick review of a book we read recently, or a life lesson from a great read-aloud, or just a list of what I read to the kids yesterday, or somesuch.
